I sent it to Sandy a couple years ago. Dad gave me a black n white copy many years ago. On it he wrote it was taken in Waco Texas and that grandpa was a Texas Ranger. That's all I knew.
I drew created the drawing from it and colored it in trying to bring in more life. I noticed so many things as I did it. He had a knife on his side and all the conch on his belt.
I remember hearing about the wool chaps. They were to protect from horses kicking n cattle n insulation.
The six shooter revolver my brothers seen because dad had it. Grandpa also was good with a leather whip. I was surprised that wasn't in the picture.
You remember the pic of Elizabeth you gave me, my stepsister? Well she prob ended up with whatever Dad had of his.
I have a list of my dad's medals in the army so I'm satisfied.
The picture I did that maybe 10 yrs ago. Never met Grandpa but just wanted a memory that was colorful n not a bad copy.
My daughter was in Waco this year n I asked her to check the memorial there for Texas Rangers.
She could not find his name but people there did not think that was odd. Records weret kept well?
