    Jacob Albert Schierholz was born February 27, 1851, in Norderstapel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the son of Peter Jacob Schierholz and Catharina Frahm. He emigrated from Germany on February 27, 1869. After arriving in America, he made his way to Boone County, Iowa, where he purchased 40 acres of land in Yell Township. He married Frances Harriet McKune on September 20, 1880. Their children were: Emma L., Catharine Elizabeth, Peter Hezekiah, Jacob Edward, Frances Minerva, Harriet A., Albert Harrison, Lurena E., Mabel Ellen, Wilhelm George, and Louie Cecil. He was considered by his peers to be an industrious and energetic farmer who finally owned 140 acres of land in Yell Township and was well-liked in his community. When he died May 22, 1940, in Boone, Iowa, of a stroke, at the home of his son, Albert, he was one of the oldest pioneers in the county, and had been a resident of the United States for 72 years.

    Jacob married Frances Harriet McKune on 20 Sep 1880 in Ogden, Boone County, Iowa. Frances (daughter of Edward McKune and Minerva Bacon Hastings) was born on 17 Oct 1860 in Sublette, Lee County, Illinois; died on 08 Jan 1923 in Yell, Boone County, Iowa; was buried in Glenwood Cemetery, Ogden, Boone County, Iowa.
