Mrs. Martha Kerby passed away in a Brighton Colorado Hospital on August 20, 1973. Funeral services were held in the Strasburg Community Presbyterian Church on Thursday ; August 23 with Rev. Arnold J. Blomquist officiating. Burial was in Mount View Cemetery in Bennett.
Mrs. Martha Jane Kerby was born September 8, 1885 in Grand Lick, Kentucky, the seventh of eleven children of Mr. Ambrose and Mrs. Kaziah Brockman. In this place of her birth she grew to maturity and on March 23, 1907 she was united in marriage with Charles Franklin Kerby in Sand Gap, Ky.
With her husband, Mrs. Kerby came to Colorado in 1909 to settle on a homestead north of Bennett, Colorado. Here they maintained their home together for 43 years working diligently and living frugally to surmount the many hardships of pioneering in the settling of this community. Mrs. Kerby and her husband were dedicated and faithful Christians being charter members of the Wolf Creek Community Presbyterian Church and remained constructively active and faithful in that fellowship while the lived on this homestead place. Mr. Kerby was an Elder in the church and always close by his side was Martha, faithful and devoted in the life and fellowship of the church.
Following their retirement from the farm in 1952, Mrs. Kerby and her husband built a home in Strasburg where they were highly esteemed for their lives of faith and hope and love in active participation in the Strasburg Church for the rest of their lives.
The Kerbys celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary in March 1969. Mrs. Kerby was preceded in death by her husband on August 29, 1969. Surviving in her immediate family are: one brother - Mr. Noah Brockman, Dayton, Ohio, many nieces and nephews and a wide circle of friends.

This was a letter I had written to a lady who was trying to find her Mother's lost Brother, Robert Lee Havens!! I believe this was my husband's father,his Mother of course being Margaret Brockman Turney. The email came back...undeliverable. It has been 4 years ago she posted this.Her name was Judy Ferryman. I have pictures of the Turney family.

My name is Ann[Turney /Havens] Martin, This is a long convoluted story. My first husband's name was Robert Lee Turney but he had a copy of his original birth certificate, his last name was Havens,his Mother had scratched it out and written Turney.Flem Turney was married to Margaret[Bob's Mother] My husband knew nothing about all this till he needed his B.C. to get his driver's license.At this time she told him his Dad had been in the Air Force and had been killed in WW11. Bob was born in Denver, CO. in 1942. He and I thought, they probably weren't married. She told him, Flem Turney had adopted him,but there was no paperwork ,that he ever saw.My Bob was also in the Air Force,he left in Dec.1962 for a year in Osan S. Korea, he died there in Dec. 1963, 2 weeks before he was to come home. We had been married less than 2 years. He was 21 and I was 18. He had written to tell me, as soon as he got home, he was going to push his Mother for the whole story,but he never got the chance.You and he might have been first cousins, who knows. Clinical History: 20 year old gravida 2 para 1 white female with long history of spotting, negative FHTS on 14 (illegible) fetus at 19 weeks GABD. Previous surgery T Caesarian and vaginal delivery 1980. Last menstrual period -- 07/04/86.

Gross: Received in a single container filled with formalin designated with the patient's name and number is a placenta which weighs 60 grams and measures 8 cm. in diameter. Eccentrically attached to the placenta is a 15 cm. three vessel umbilical cord. the umbilical cord is attached 2 cm. from the placental edge. The membranes are glistening and translucent. In the same container is a fetus which measures 11 cm. crown/rump and 15 cm. crown/heel. Attached to the fetus there is an 11 cm. three vessel unbilical cord. Grossly the fetus unremarkable. Internal examination shows autolyzed internal organs. External genitalia are male. Representative section from the placenta is submitted in cassette (A), from the membrane and unbilical cord in cassette (B).

Microscopic: Exained.
