- Jack Leon Marzolf Obituary
Jack Leon Marzolf, 83, passed away June 21, 2020, at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit. He was born May 25, 1937 in Kirksville, Mo. to Marvin and Viola Marzolf. He married Rebecca Fisher on May 24, 1959. She survives.
Jack was a lifelong resident of Glen Elder, graduating from Glen Elder High School in 1956. He began work as a heavy equipment soil consevarationist out of high school for Barnett Construction. He bought the operation and renamed it Marzolf Construction in 1973. He continued in that field until his retirement in 2003.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Glen Elder. He served several years on the Glen Elder City Council and was a member of the Glen Elder Lions Club.
Jack was first and foremost a family man. He enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in numerous activities. He was Santa Claus to numerous children in the area for nearly 50 years.
Another interest was many trips to the casinos in Las Vegas and their buffets. During retirement he enjoyed building feeders for the birds and squirrels making sure every family member had one.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca, of the home. A daughter, Rhonda Farwell and husband Curt of Beloit. Two sons, Mark and wife Cheryl of Glen Elder and Michael and wife Crystal of Great Bend. A brother Marvin of Roseville, Calif. and sister Mary Ellen of Las Vegas.
Jack is also survived by three grandsons, Brady Marzolf and wife Jill of Wichita, Chase Marzolf of Wichita and Reece Farwell of Lawrence. Two granddaughters, Tori Farwell of Wichita and Katelyn Scherer of Olathe.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola, father, Marvin, and sister, Peggy Kresin.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Wednesday, June 24 at the Glen Elder United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-7 PM Tuesday, June 23 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Church.
