Archie R. Nichols, 63, of 449 McDaniel Road, N.E. Calhoun, Ga., died Sunday at his residence following a brief illness.
Archie was born in Chautauqua County on July 10, 1945, a son of the late Lynn and Margaret Johnson Nichols. He had resided in Calhoun since 1995. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Harry Johnson, two brothers and one sister.
From an early age and until his passing, Archie's passion in life was anything auto. Whether he was hauling, buying and selling, parting out, collecting, rebounding, crushing or just plain driving, he enjoyed and did it all.
He had previous businesses in New York, including A.J. Enterprises (towing, auto repair and gas station) in Jamestown, Twin Auto Wrecking and Archie Nichols Inc.,a scrapyard in Frewsburg, and was currently owner and operator of the Painted Post Trading Company in Calhoun, Ga.
Survivors include his wife, Karla Nichols, one son and daughter-in-law, Archie (A.J.) and Kristen Nichols of Frewsburg, a grandson, Archie J. (Justin) Nichols, also of Frewsburg, and his loving pet, Snickbaumer.
A celebration of life for Archie will be held later.

Monday, November 17, 2008 Mr. Archie R. Nichols age 63 of 449 McDaniel Rd. N.E., Calhoun, died Sunday at his residence following a brief illness. Archie was born in Chautauqua County New York on July 10, 1945 son of the late Lynn and Margaret Johnson Nichols. He had resided in Calhoun since 1995 and was the Owner Operator of the Painted Post Trading Company on U.S. Highway 41 North. From an early age, and until his passing, Archie?s passion was anything auto. Whether he was hauling, buying and selling, parting out, collecting, rebuilding, crushing, or just plain driving, he enjoyed and did it all. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather; Harry Johnson, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife Karla J. Nichols of Calhoun, one son Archie J. (A.J) Nichols and his wife Kristin of Frewsburg, N.Y., a grandson Archie J. (Justin) Nichols of Frewsburg, N.Y. and his loving pet Snickbaumer. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday November 19th at the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Yother officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chandler cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers serving include Jerry Davis, A.J. Nichols, Jackie Crowe, Raymond Smith, Richard Craig, Charlie Roberts, Flipper McDaniel and Dr. Lyle Helm and they are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:45 P.M. Wednesday. The family will receive friends at the Thomas Funeral Home from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening.
