    • 50 Years - Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sporing, Goodland, will celebrate their 50th anniversary on Aug. 17, 1985. An open house will be held at the Moose Lodge, 1530 Main, at 7 p.m. on Aug. 17. Hostesses will be Walt and Donna Bergquist, Arapahoe, Colo., Art and Frankie Kibel, Mary Sims and Linus Rupp, all of Gilcrest, Colo., Ben and Nancy Brown, Goodland, Bill and Sue Sporing, Superior, Neb., and Ronnie and Linda Sporing, Denver. Mr. and Mrs. Sporing have 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

      Nancy J. Sporing Nancy J. Sporing, 83, a long time Goodland resident, died Wednesday, July 26, 2000, at the Goodland Regional Medical Center. She was born Oct. 3, 1916, in Racine, Wis., the daughter of Florence (Eppler) and Chancy Thompson. She attended school in Wisconsin for eight years. Her family moved to the Brewster area in the early 1930s. She and Lloyd Sporing were married Aug. 17, 1935, at Goodland. They didn’t live here at that time, but moved to Goodland in 1954. She worked for Model Steam Laundry in Goodland for 24 years and retired in 1978. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Women of the Moose, both of Goodland. She enjoyed raising her family and playing Bingo. Her funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bateman Funeral Home of Goodland with Pastor Scott Grimshaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Brewster Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8p.m. Friday and before the service Saturday at the funeral home. Survivors include two sons, Lloyd W. Sporing, Superior, Neb., and Ronald Sporing, Haxtun, Colo.; four daughters, Nancy Brown, Goodland, Mary Ann Rupp, Bushton, Donna Bergquist, Arapahoe, Colo., and Letha Kibel, Canon City, Colo.; a sister, Pat McCay, Pierce, Colo.; 25 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be left at or sent to Bateman Funeral Home, 211 E. 11th, P.O. Box 278, Goodland, Kan. 67735. The family will decide on a designation at a later date.
