Notes - Following information is from Sheila McCormack, McKune Family Historian.
Joseph served in the Revolutionary War in the Orange County Militia. According to SAR & DAR Lineage records, Joseph served as a private in Captain Baly's company, Colonel Wisner's regiment, New York troops, 1775-1776.
He was married to Ester Many in about 1783. She died, and then in about 1788 he married Anna Gillet, and they lived in Mamakating, Ulster Co. NY (now Sullivan Co., NY).
In 1812 the family moved to Harmony Twp., Susquehanna Co., PA. Joseph and Anna sold part of their farm to their son, Robert, and 130 acres to their son-in-law, James D. Smith.
Anna died in 1825 and he then married Phebe Phelps Winters.
Joseph was a farmer and served as a tax assessor in Harmony Twp. from 1822-1825. He was married 3 times and had 13 children. He wrote his will in 1838 and made provisions for grave stones for his previous wife, Anna, and for himself. - Joseph McKune served as a private in Colonel Wisner's regiment, New York troops in the Revolution. He moved to Harmony Twp, Susquehanna Co, PA in 1812. He was a farmer there.
