Notes - Following information is from Sheila McCormack, McKune Family Historian.
Hezekiah and his brother John W., moved west to Lee Co., IL about 1845, along with many of the Lewis and Hale families. He lived the NW part of Sublette Twp. (earlier called Hanno Twp.), where there were abundant trees, which were needed for fuel and to build their homes.
In 1863, Hezekiah was badly injured when he was thrown from his buggy. One leg was broken and he was badly bruised.
In 1874 he moved to Lee Center Twp., which was not far from his previous home. Also in 1874 he became the legal guardian for his granddaughter, Frances H. McKune, daughter of Edward and Minerva McKune. She was 14 at the time and was living in Boone Co., IA with her mother and stepfather, Edward Nicholas. In 1875 she returned to Iowa. - Hezekiah McKune and his brothers, Joshua and John W., moved west to Lee Co., IL from Pennsylvania in 1845. Hezekiah and Elizabeth (Lewis) had 5 children: Edward, Lurena (Lippincott), Albert, Harrison and Elizabeth.
