Edward was in Company E 75th Illinois Infantry. He was a Private from Sublette, Illinois. Date of Muster Sep 2, 1862, he was Killed at Perryville, Ky. Oct 8, 1862. - Edward McKune is a direct descendant of John Howland who came to America on the Mayflower.

He married Minerva Maria Hastings on November 2, 1856, in Dixon, Illinois. They had two children during their marriage, Emily and Frances. He died at the age of 30 as a Union soldier in the American Civil War on October 8, 1862, at the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky.
