BUSHTON
Linus Joseph Rupp, 75, died Monday, Dec. 26, at Via Christi-St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita. He was born March 13, 1930, in Victoria, the son of John and Catherine (Schmidtberger) Rupp. He married Bernice Weigel on Nov. 9, 1948, at Emmeram. He then he married Mary Ann Sporing on June 17, 1998, at Canon City, Colo. He grew up in Victoria and Hays and had lived in Denver, Colo., Cheyenne, Goodland, and Hays, and then has lived in Bushton for 12 years. He worked in the oil fields, and then he was a Teamster truck driver for 35 years. He retired in 1992.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Rupp of the home; three sons, Curt Rupp and Fred Rupp, both of Bushton, and John Rupp and his wife Vonda of Greenwood, Ind.; one daughter, Jan Yanda and her husband Daryel of Gorham; two step-sons, Tim Robbins and his wife Nova of Anchorage, Ala., and Bill Robbins of Greeley, Colo.; two step-daughters, Tina Sims of Bushton and Katrina Sims of Lorraine; three sisters, O’Linda Schantz of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alice Wasinger of Hutchinson and Albertine Rome of Hays; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Clarence, Daniel, Edward and Elmer; four sisters, Irene Hoff, Albina Rupp, Blondie Dreiling, and Sally Sullivan; one infant sister, Albertine Helen Rupp; and one grandson, Dale Yanda LeGrande.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at St. Fidelis Catholic Church in Victoria. A private family burial will be at a later date. A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today at Cline’s Mortuary, 412 Main, Victoria, KS 67671. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today and 8:30 to 9:45 a.m. Friday, all at Cline’s Mortuary in Victoria. Memorials are suggested to Via Christi-St. Francis Burn Center in Wichita, or Masses.
