  Following information is from Sheila McCormack, McKune Family Historian. When Frances was 14 in 1874, she returned to Sublette, Lee Co., IL to live with her grandparents, Hezekiah and Elizabeth (Lewis) McKune. Hezekiah became her legal guardian. Then in 1875 she returned to Ogden, Boone Co., IA to live with her mother. At age 16 the guardianship expired. https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/143480997/frances-harriet-schierholz When Frances Harriet McKune was born on October 17, 1860, in Sublette, Illinois, her father, Edward McKune, was 28, and her mother, Minerva Maria Hastings, was 21. Her father, who was a Union soldier, died October 8, 1862, less than two years later, at the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky, in the American Civil War. Frances married Jacob Schierholz on September 20, 1880, in Ogden, Iowa. Their children were: Emma L., Catharine Elizabeth, Peter Hezekiah, Jacob Edward, Frances Minerva, Harriet A., Albert Harrison, Lurena E., Mabel Ellen, Wilhelm George, and Louie Cecil. She died of carcinoma of the liver on January 8, 1923, in Ogden, Iowa, at the age of 62. Buried: PLOT 18-27C
