Albert G Grinnall, age 80, of Savanna, Illinois, died Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
Memorial services will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, October 19, 2002 at the Law-Jones Funeral Home, Savanna. Pastor Robert Schubert will officiate. Inurment will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in Albert's name.
Albert was born on Monday, December 5, 1921 in Savanna, Illinois to George and Elizabeth (Ehredt) Grinnall. He attended Savanna High School. He married Gladys Dauphin on June 13, 1942.
Albert farmed and worked at Burlington Northern Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1983.
Albert served in the Army in Field Artillery during numerous campaigns in Europe where he received the Bronze Star.
Albert was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Savanna Moose, Railroad Retirees, past Board member of the Mt. Carroll Lions Club.
Survivors include, his wife Gladys; two daughters, Cheryl (Douglas) Rogers of Rockford, Illinois, Vicki (Dan) Becker of Platteville, Wisconsin; two sons, Steven (Michelle) Grinnall of Rockford, Illinois, Daryl (Mary Jo) Grinnall of Omaha, Nebraska; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-granchildren; one sister Betty Morris of Savanna, and one brother Mick (Donna) Grinnall of Clinton, Iowa.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents.
