902 | From Andre Mostert about the Jasper Alexander Cox and Eliza Augusta Duncan History: My sister Trudy wrote this short article about our Cox/Duncan grandparents. Our mother Dora Cox had told us this story often. Also Uncle Ona wrote his own story of his father and mother which is almost identical to mother's. There is a verbal quirk in northern Missouri that pronounces an ending "a" as "i or "y". So Auda, Ona, Ina would all be pronounced as Audy, Ony, Iny. I can verify this having heard my mother and her brothers and sisters saying this often. They called her (Dora) Dory. Continuing along this line, natives of the northern border with Iowa also called the state Missoura, not Missoury. | Cox, Jasper Alexander (I623)

906 | From Kathy McDowell Cline To Dwight Thompson Date 27 Apr 2015 12:28 Subject Dear Dwight, I have recently been in touch with another researcher, Loree Davis. She says that Minerva Hastings and Thomas Morris were divorced ca 1866/7 in DeWitt, Clinton Co, IA, but I have yet to confirm that. "There is a transcription of an interview that was done with Thomas Morris in which he says "I married Minerva McCum at Sublet, Lee County, Illinois. I left her about 1866 or 1867. She procured a divorce at DeWitt Iowa, I think Clinton County. I had personal knowledge of the proceedings. I put in an appearance. The divorce was granted... I next married Alvira Scott at Lucerne, Benton County, Iowa. I can't fix a date but I think it was about 1877. I had to procure a license so it is of record." " Per FamilySearch, he married Alvira [nee CAREY] SCOTT 02/05 Nov 1869 Vinton, Benton Co, IA, so his memory may be off on other things. I am assuming this text came from his C W pension records that she has a copy of. Thomas is her GGGrandfather by his second wife. He d 17 May 1913 and is buried in Rochester Cem., Topeka, Shawnee Co, KS, verified by FindAGrave, and she sent me a photo of his stone. Placing Minerva in IA at that time was a great surprise to me and of course stirs up even more questions. What a life she had. I hope this finds you and your family well. Sincerely, Kathy Kathy McDowell Cline | Morris, Thomas Daniel (I165)

[inside front cover] OUR MOTHER God saw that she was getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around her And whispered, “Come to Me.” With tearful eyes we watched her suffer And slowly fade away. Although we loved her dearly We could not make her stay. Her life was not an easy journey With many stops along the way. To give of herself to those in need So they could make it through their day. She played many roles throughout her life: Wife, mother, grandmother and friend. There is an empty place in our lives As we see such an important life end. A golden heart has stopped beating, Hard-working hands are at rest. But our sorrow is softened in knowing Trusting in Christ Jesus, she is blessed. [back] "Mary Lou McDowell, daughter of Charles Godfrey and Verna Nicholson Godfrey, was born April 4, 1933 in Jamaica, Iowa and died May 21, 2007 at the Perry Lutheran Home at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 17 days. 923 | Geneva Wolfgram - from Barbara Joan Schuler Best grandma ever. She made myself and siblings feel like we were the most special kids in the world. I spent allot of time with her in the summer. She drove like she was a race car driver. She did "cook shack" in the summer. I was with her every chance I had. These were little wooden buildings that could be moved. It had a kitchen on one end and large tables on the other side. This was for feeding the guys harvesting and running the machines in the field. Grandma was always on Grandpas case about something and it was pretty funny. They called each other Ma and Dad. I can still hear her say "dad get in this kitchen and empty the water out of the potatoes. She was independent. They had 7 boys and a daughter. The daughter passed shortly after birth. She was always busy. We spent allot of time on weekends with them. The Schulers were very close. All of their children would visit and spend the week ends with them. We really got to know our Uncles and their families. To this day we are still in touch with our extended family. Love that woman. https://www.familysearch.org/photos/artifacts/25279796?p=44162676&returnLabel=Geneva%20Ema%20Wolfgram%20(LKBJ-BC5)&returnUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.familysearch.org%2Ftree%2Fperson%2Fmemories%2FLKBJ-BC5 | Wolfgram, Geneva Eva (I1702)
