162 | Ancestry Obituary Posted Dec 19, 2020 by k Van Den Heuvel Gordon Otto Huolihan Appleton - Gordon Otto Huolihan 88, of Appleton, passed away on Thursday December 3, 2020 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center of Appleton. He was born on October 13, 1932 in Appleton. The son of Beau and Mildred (Plutz) Huolihan. In his early years he joined the Army and served in the Korean War as a field repair radio technician. On September 28, 1955 he married Janice DuFrane love of his life. Gordon loved to spend time up north at the cottage. He also loved to hike, chop firewood, boating, fishing, and many other outdoor projects. He was also an avid reader while sitting in front of the fireplace. He loved to tell stories. Dad was a true environmentalist at heart. He loved traveling in their motor home seeing the countryside. Dad owned 6 rental homes over the years, and continued to update and remodel. But most of all, dad loved to spend time with family and friends. Gordon is survived by: his wife Janice Huolihan, (3) Children: Deborah (Steven) VanZeeland, Daniel (Cheryl) Huolihan, and Diane (Randall) Janssen. (9) Grandchildren: Matthew (Amy) VanZeeland, Adam (Molly) VanZeeland, Jessica (Luke) Lesselyoung, Michael (Hilarie) Huolihan, Whitney (Kurt) VanDenHeuvel , Jason (Kami) Bunnow, Joshua (Gyeong Hui Kim) Bunnow, Alan and Ashley Olson. Huolihan, 76, passed away due to complications of COVID-19 after a battle with Alzheimer's on Thursday, October 22, 2020. Mike was born on November 9, 1943 to Beau and Mildred (Plutz) Huolihan. He was a veteran having served in the US Army. Mike was a chef for over 50 years, working at various locations, including Butte Des Mortes Country Club, AAL, Alex's Crown, and the Paper Valley Hotel. His passion for the culinary arts earned him many awards, of which he was very proud of. In his free time, Mike enjoyed spending time at the cabin, cutting wood, and hunting. Mike was the family "grill master" and even created his wellknown seasoning blend, Huolihan's Continental Seasoning. Most importantly, the time he spent with his family and friends will always be cherished. Mike is survived by his son Ryan (Ilona) Huolihan, grandchildren; Addison and Brecken Huolihan, the love of his life with whom he spent 37 years with, Rose Franzke, and her children; Scott (Dawn) Franzke and their son Clayton, Stacy (Kurt) Anderson, and their daughters Alyssa and Emily Anderson. Mike is further survived by his siblings; Gordon (Jan) Huolihan, Anna Kading, Joyce (Ron) Haberland, Ginny (Harvey) Judkins, George (Sue) Huolihan, sisters-in-law; Nancy Huolihan and Claire Huolihan, as well as many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Clifford and David, and his brother-in-law, Earl Kading. 174 | Archie Russell Nichols Monday, November 17, 2008 Mr. Archie R. Nichols age 63 of 449 McDaniel Rd. N.E., Calhoun, died Sunday at his residence following a brief illness. Archie was born in Chautauqua County New York on July 10, 1945 son of the late Lynn and Margaret Johnson Nichols. He had resided in Calhoun since 1995 and was the Owner Operator of the Painted Post Trading Company on U.S. Highway 41 North. From an early age, and until his passing, Archie?s passion was anything auto. Whether he was hauling, buying and selling, parting out, collecting, rebuilding, crushing, or just plain driving, he enjoyed and did it all. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his stepfather; Harry Johnson, two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife Karla J. Nichols of Calhoun, one son Archie J. (A.J) Nichols and his wife Kristin of Frewsburg, N.Y., a grandson Archie J. (Justin) Nichols of Frewsburg, N.Y. and his loving pet Snickbaumer. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday November 19th at the Chapel of the Thomas Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Yother officiating. Entombment will follow in the Chandler cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers serving include Jerry Davis, A.J. She was formerly Mary Reinking, 3rd oldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Chris Reinking who live 2 miles northwest of Tipton. A large procession followed her remains to the Lutheran cemetery Monday afternoon. Mr and Mrs Ben Ottley, of Sequin, came down to attend the funeral. Mrs Ottley being a sister of Mrs Nickolson.
