    OUR MOTHER

God saw that she was getting tired, And a cure was not to be. So He put His arms around her And whispered, “Come to Me.” With tearful eyes we watched her suffer And slowly fade away. Although we loved her dearly We could not make her stay.

Her life was not an easy journey With many stops along the way. To give of herself to those in need So they could make it through their day.

She played many roles throughout her life: Wife, mother, grandmother and friend. There is an empty place in our lives As we see such an important life end. A golden heart has stopped beating, Hard-working hands are at rest. But our sorrow is softened in knowing Trusting in Christ Jesus, she is blessed.

    Obits:
    Mrs. Mamie Nicholas Dies Suddenly
Friends here were shocked Saturday afternoon to learn of the death of Mrs. Mamie Nicholas at her home in the south part of town. Although Mrs. Nicholas has not been in the best of health for some time, her condition was not regarded serious until a short time ago. She had suffered a severe attack of chronic asthma only a few days before but was up and about the house until a few hours before her passing. It will be a distinct shock to her son Corp. Vandon Nicholas, overseas.

She was a loyal member of the Rippey Service Star Legion, and as recently as June 24th participated in the ceremonies of the State Convention in session at Rippey.
She was an ideal mother, and spent her strength and uncertain health in living service for her family. She gathered around her a large circle of friends and neighbors through the years who loved her dearly. To them the shock of her passing is severe indeed. For more than a week prior to her death she suffered from an attack of asthma, and on Saturday became prostrated, passing away at eight o'clock in the evening.
There remains to mourn her passing, besides the sorrowing husband and children mentioned above, two sisters, Mrs. Stella Winchell and Mrs. Edith Johns of Jamaica, a half sister, Mrs. Nora Forkner of Jefferson; half brother, Norman Nicholas of Dawson. Also seven grandchildren who are Verda, Vernon and Daryl McDowell, Don Blayne, Larry and Aretta Kay Nicholas, and Leon Fisher, besides a number of other relatives and friends.
