Following information is from Sheila McCormack, McKune Family Historian.

Joseph served in the Revolutionary War in the Orange County Militia. According to SAR & DAR Lineage records, Joseph served as a private in Captain Baly's company, Colonel Wisner's regiment, New York troops, 1775-1776.
He was married to Ester Many in about 1783. She died, and then in about 1788 he married Anna Gillet, and they lived in Mamakating, Ulster Co. NY (now Sullivan Co., NY).
In 1812 the family moved to Harmony Twp., Susquehanna Co., PA. Joseph and Anna sold part of their farm to their son, Robert, and 130 acres to their son-in-law, James D. Smith.
Anna died in 1825 and he then married Phebe Phelps Winters.
Joseph was a farmer and served as a tax assessor in Harmony Twp. from 1822-1825. He was married 3 times and had 13 children. He wrote his will in 1838 and made provisions for grave stones for his previous wife, Anna, and for himself.

Joseph McKune served as a private in Colonel Wisner's regiment, New York troops in the Revolution. He moved to Harmony Twp, Susquehanna Co, PA in 1812. He was a farmer there.

Notes:

Hezekiah McKune and his brothers, Joshua and John W., moved west to Lee Co., IL from Pennsylvania in 1845. Hezekiah and Elizabeth (Lewis) had 5 children: Edward, Lurena (Lippincott), Albert, Harrison and Elizabeth.

Hezekiah married Elizabeth Lewis on 06 Jan 1831 in Harmony, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania. Elizabeth (daughter of Nathaniel Lewis, Jr. and Sarah Hart Cole) was born on 13 Nov 1811 in Great Bend, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania; died on 17 Feb 1899 in Osceola, Polk County, Wisconsin. Notes:

Edward was killed in the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky during the Civil War.

Edward was in Company E 75th Illinois Infantry. He was a Private from Sublette, Illinois. Date of Muster Sep 2, 1862, he was Killed at Perryville, Ky. Oct 8, 1862.

Edward McKune is a direct descendant of John Howland who came to America on the Mayflower.

When Edward McKune was born on August 15, 1832, in Harmony, Pennsylvania, his father, Hezekiah, was 30 and his mother, Elizabeth, was 20. He married Minerva Maria Hastings on November 2, 1856, in Dixon, Illinois. They had two children during their marriage, Emily and Frances. He died at the age of 30 as a Union soldier in the American Civil War on October 8, 1862, at the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky.

When Frances Harriet McKune was born on October 17, 1860, in Sublette, Illinois, her father, Edward McKune, was 28, and her mother, Minerva Maria Hastings, was 21. Her father, who was a Union soldier, died October 8, 1862, less than two years later, at the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky, in the American Civil War. Frances married Jacob Schierholz on September 20, 1880, in Ogden, Iowa. Their children were: Emma L., Catharine Elizabeth, Peter Hezekiah, Jacob Edward, Frances Minerva, Harriet A., Albert Harrison, Lurena E., Mabel Ellen, Wilhelm George, and Louie Cecil. She died of carcinoma of the liver on January 8, 1923, in Ogden, Iowa, at the age of 62.
