-The life of Mr. Nicholas was devoted to farming until ill health forced his retirement in 1930. He suffered from a complication of diseases being practically helpless since February 1932.
-In order that he might receive better care, he was recently taken to Decatur, Ill., but he soon passed beyond the need of human help and care.
-Mr. Nicholas was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Independence, Mo., and of Cottage Grove Lodge No. 68, I. O. O. F., Cottage Grove, Ore.
-Mr. Nicholas was preceded in death by a son Ralph,* May 1918 and by a daughter, *Mrs. Hazel Bates in Feb. 1932.
-He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Addie Nicholas, a stepson, Claude Clement of Decatur, three brothers, Fred Nicholas of Kansas City, Mo., Byde Nicholas of Rippey, and Ralph Nicholas of Denver, Colo., a sister, Mrs. Addie Mullin of Kansas City, and a half brother, Henry Michaels of Decatur, Ill.
-*the "8" could be a "3" - it was hard to read.
