Notes - John Adam Ehredt was the oldest of the 10 children of Martin and Elizabeth Ehredt. He was born on the family farm in Guilford Township. The Family Farm was on the Ridge road between Elizabeth and Scales Mound. Coonie Bahr bought this farm when Martin retired to Galena.
John married Barbara Hesselbacher who lived on the farm across ridge raod with her family. John bought the (Ehredt) farm bordering on ridge road and the bottom road. It was also in Guilford Township, with Elizabeth, Illinois as the mailing address. They had 7 children.
John was a big man. He farmed, but did Blacksmithing on the side. In 1900 they moved to Elizabeth, Illinois, where he had a Blacksmithing Shop first on Route 20 and then later on Catlin Street. He also built a large home on Catlin Street. He was a good carpenter. He built a large barn for his brother Martin, on his farm near Derinda Center, Illinois. His sons, Joe and John worked with him in the Blacksmith Shop before they were married.
