  1. 12.  Ivan Coxy ThompsonIvan Coxy Thompson was born on 20 Sep 1890 in Mercer County, Missouri (son of William Sheldon Thompson and Nancy Ann Cox); died on 23 Mar 1977 in Colby, Thomas County, Kansas; was buried on 26 Mar 1977 in Goodland Cemetery, Goodland, Kansas.

    Ivan C. Thompson
    Long-time Sherman County resident Ivan C. Thompson died last Wednesday at St. Thomas Hospital, at the age of 86.
    Mr. Thompson was born Sept. 20 1890 in Mercer County, MO., to W.S. and Nancy Thompson. In 1899 he traveled to Thomas County in a covered wagon with his parents and eight brothers and sisters. After staying a year, the Thompson family moved back to Missouri, again traveling in a covered wagon. In 1903 they came back to kansas and homesteaded north of Brewster.
    In 1918, Mr. Thompson married Julia Frances Smith in Goodland. She preceded him in death in 1969. Mr. Thompson and his wife farmed in Sherman and Thomas Counties for 74 years. He had been living with hid daughter, Helen Owens, Edson, for several years.
    In addition to his daughter, Mr. Thompson is also survived by a son, Harold, of Olathe, two brothers, Fred of Brewster and Elic of Westminster, Colo., and one sister, Idona Wright, Brewster. Survivors also include 14 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
    On son, Kenneth, two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
    Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Fr. Merlin Kieffer and Fr. Bob Reif officiated. Burial was in the Goodland Cemetery.

    Ivan married Julia Frances Smith on 20 May 1917 in Goodland, Kansas. Julia (daughter of Michael Smith and Catherine ?) was born on 15 Aug 1888 in Summerfield, Kansas; died on 19 Dec 1969 in Goodland, Kansas; was buried on 22 Dec 1969 in Goodland, Kansas. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Mrs. Thompson dies
    Funeral services for Mrs. Ivan (Julia) Thompson will be 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 22, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Goodland. The Rev. Paul Meitl will officiate. Burial wil be in the Goodland Cemetery.
    Rosary for Mrs. Thompson will se said Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Sage and Smith Chapel. The body will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
    Mrs. Thompson died early Friday morning at the Northwest Kansas Medical Center where she had been a patient for three days.
    Mrs. Thompson whose parents were Michael and Catherine Smith, was born Aug 15, 1888 at Summerville, Kan.
    She taught school in Rawlins County and then married Ivan C. Thompson in May of 1917. They then came to Sherman County and engaged in the farming business in the eastern sector of the county. They retired in 1963 and purchased a home at 1501 Texas in Goodland. Mrs. Thompson was a member of the Catholic Church and belonged to the St. Barbara's Circle.
    Survivors include; her husband; son Harold R., of Olathe; daughter, Helen I. Owens, Edson; brother, Emmett and Sam, of Colorado Springs; sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Brinkmeier, Mrs. Nora B. Hubka, both of Colorado Springs, and Mrs. Celia Alders, Marysville, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

    3. Kenneth Ivan Thompson was born on 20 Sep 1924 in Sherman County, Kansas; died in 1951 in Goodland, Kansas; was buried in Goodland, Kansas.
