Lorraine (daughter of James L Wears and Bessie Eulalia Mayfield) was born on 17 Sep 1920 in Adair, Oklahoma; died on 12 Aug 2005 in Colby, Thomas County, Kansas; was buried on 16 Aug 2005 in Brewster Cemetery, Brewster, Thomas County, Kansas. BREWSTER ? Lorraine R. Bear, 84, Brewster, died Friday, Aug. 12, 2005.
Mrs. Bear was born Lorraine R. Wears on Sept. 17, 1920. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Lyman of Brewster; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Brewster United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Brewster Cemetery.
Memorials will be decided at a later date and can be left at the church or Bateman Funeral Home, Box 278, 11th & Broadway, Goodland 67735.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mountain time Monday at the funeral home and at the church before the service Tuesday.

Span Of Life Of William Walter Bear
William Walter Bear, son of George and Mary Bear, was born on December 18, 1890, north of Brewster, Kans.; and departed this life on July 18, 1958 at the age of 67 years, 7 months.
He was united in marriage to Bessie M. Thompson on October 12, 1910. To this union four children were born; Lorna Eicher, Brewster; Lloyd Bear, Brewster, George Bear, Edson; and Violet Miller, Brewster. His father and mother, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Bessie of the home; the two sons and two daughters; one sister, Mrs. Awalt of Paradise, Calif.; one brother, Charley Bear of Colby; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter, Dely Kay; and many relatives, friends, and loved ones.
Mr. Bear received much pleasure out of his grandchildren, and the grandchildren loved him. Mr. Bear and his family lived north of Brewster for 41 years, then moved to Brewster in the fall of 1947.
Will was always a good neighbor and a friend to all. He was always ready to help anyone in need of help.
Funeral services were held in the Brewster Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m., July 21, 1958, with the Rev. Howard Crandall officiating. Interment was in the Brewster Cemetery.

William married Bessie Mae Thompson on 12 Oct 1910. Bessie (daughter of William Sheldon Thompson and Nancy Ann Cox) was born on 14 Jan 1889 in Mercer County, Missouri; died on 28 Feb 1963 in Colby, Thomas County, Kansas; was buried on 03 Mar 1963 in Brewster Cemetery, Brewster, Thomas County, Kansas. Mrs. W. W. Bear dies, funeral service Monday
Mrs. Bessie May Bear, 74, who came to Kansas in a covered wagon at the age of 14, died at the Colby hospital Thursday night. Mrs. Bear was the mother of a prominent Brewster area family and had been active in commumity affairs all of her life.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist church in Brewster on Monday at 2:00 p.m., cst.
The daughter of William and Nancy Ann Thompson, Mrs. Bear was born in Mercer county, Mo., on Jan. 14, 1889, and the family moved to Kansas when she was 14. She was married to William Walter Bear on Oct. 12, 1910 and the couple took up a homestead nine miles north of Brewster. They lived there until 1947 when they moved to Brewster. Mr. Bear died in 1958.
Mrs. Bear was a member of the Methodist church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Stich and Chatter club of Brewster.
Surviving Mrs. Bear are two sons and two daughters, all of Brewster; Mrs. Lorna M. Eicher, Mrs. Mary Violet Miller, Lloyd G. and Gearge S. Bear. There are eight grandchildren. Surviving brothers include Bert Thompson of Goodland, Charley and Fred of Brewster, Ivan of Edson, and Alec of Westminster, Colo. Sisters are Mrs. Addie McAdams of Wray, Colo., and Mrs. Idonia Wright of Brewster.
