    Jay Dee Thompson, 39, of Colorado Springs died Saturday while attending a reception at the Odd Fellows Hall in Orchard.
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan and Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Vian Creek Baptist Church in Vian, Okla. Interment will follow in the Barnoski Cemetery north of Vian.

    Jay Dee Thompson, 39, of Colorado Springs, died Saturday while attending a reception at the Odd Fellows Hall in Orchard, CO.
    He was born August 13, 1965 in Denver, CO. He graduated from High School in Vian, OK, in 1983, and graduated from Western State College in 1989. He was an investment broker; he began working in Colorado Springs and was working for Bank One in Denver at the time of his death. Jay liked sports of all kinds; he played football in college; he especially enjoyed playing softball, and golfing with his friends; he was an avid OU fan.
    Survivors include his daughter, Dorinda Thompson of Post Falls, Idaho, his parents, Louis and Vivian Locust of Vian, OK and James Thompson of Denver, CO; 2 sisters, Shawnee & (Richard) Livers of Vian, OK, and Tammy & (Chris) Altig of Denver; 4 brothers, Scott & (Rhonda) Thompson of Vian, OK, J.R. & (Traci) Thompson of Broomfield, CO, Jess "Buck" & (Carmela) Locust of Vian, OK, and Sequoyah Locust of Lawrence, KS; his grandmother, Alma Weber of Brighton; his special friend Bonnie and his nieces and nephews, Marcus and Desirae Millwood, Shanda, Brooke, Jamie and Austin Thompson, Jess, Christopher and Ethan Locust, Richard and Riana Livers and Cody, Shane and Ryan Jordan.
    He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alec and Thelma Thompson and Joseph Weber.
    Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 2:00 pm at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan and Saturday at 10:00 am at the Vian Creek Baptist Church in Vian, Oklahoma. Interment will follow in the Barnoski Cemetery North of Vian.

    COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. ? Jay Dee Thompson, 39, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Vian, died Saturday, June 18, 2005, in Orchard, Colo. He was born Aug. 13, 1965, in Denver. He was a financial adviser for Bank One, a Baptist, a graduate of Vian High School and Western State College in Gunnison, Colo.
    Funeral will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Vian Creek Baptist Church with burial at Barnoski Cemetery north of Vian under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
    He is survived by a daughter, Dorinda Thompson of Idaho; his mother and stepfather, Vivian and Louis Locust of Vian, and father, James Thompson of Denver; two sisters, Tammy Thompson of Denver and Shawne Livers of Vian; four brothers, Scott Thompson and Jess Locust, both of Vian, Jamie Thompson of Denver and Sequoyah Locust of Lawrence, Kan.; and maternal grandmother, Alma Weber of Brighton, Colo.
    Pallbearers will be Robert Johnson, David Thornton, Joe Simon, Les Locust, Richard Livers and Charlie Nightchief.
    The body may be viewed 1 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

    Elmer A. Thompson, 85, of Westminster died March 6 in St. Joseph Hospital. Services were yesterday in Olinger Mortuary chapel, Wadsworth Boulevard. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery. Mr. Thompson was a farmer in western Kansas and eastern Colorado for 30 years. He moved to the Denver area in 1953, where he worked for Cobusco Steel and Gardner Denver until retiring in 1966. He is survived by his wife, Thelma L. Thompson of Westminster; three sons, Dwight Thompson of Commerce City, Gerald Thompson and James Thompson, both of Broomfield; a sister, Idonia Wright of Brewster, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

    Elmer's grave is located in Section 4, Lot 88, Block 48 in Crown Hill Memorial Park.

    THOMPSON, THELMA LAURETTA Westminster, 97 She was born June 13, 1906 in Tipton, Kansas to John Ralph and Mary Marie (Reinking) Nicholas. She passed away September 8, 2003 at Elms Haven Nursing Home. She married Elmer Alexander Thompson on December 19, 1925. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1987. Preceded in death are also three sons Ralph, Dwight, and Gerald; two sisters, Kathryn and Inez and one granddaughter, Connie. She is survived by her son, Jim; her sister, Nina; two daughters-in-law; three former daughters-in-law; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren. We will all truly miss her. Visitation today 4-8 p.m.; funeral Thursday 3 p.m.; both at Olinger Crown Hill Mortuary and Cemetery.

    Elmer Thompson's birth certificate says William was born in Illinois, 1860 Census says Missouri. Mercer County, Missouri is where a lot of this family was born.

    William Sheldon Thompson was born April 28, 1860, in Mercer county, Missouri, and departed this life at Brewster, Feb. 17, 1946, age 85 years, 10 months and 17 days.
    He was united in marriage to Nancy Ann Cox in 1882. She preceded him in death Feb. 3, 1937. To this union six sons and three daughters were born. One son, William Esma, passed on in August, 1924.
    Mr. Thompson united with the Baptist church in early life. On coming to Kansas he united with the Methodist church at Prairie Gem in the neighborhood where the family was reared.
    He leaves to mourn his passing his sons, Burton, Charley and Fred of Brewster; Ivan and Alex of Edson; his daughters, Mrs. Bessie Bear and Idonia Wright of Brewster, and Mrs. Addie McAdams of Laird, Nebr.; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Beckner, Brewster; one half-brother, Elmer Thompson of Portis; two half-sisters, Mrs. Mary Graham and Mrs. Idonia Thompson of the Dalles Ore.; 26 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
    Funeral services were held from the Brewster Methodist church, Conducted by Rev. J. E. Gruver, with a large attendance of relatives and friends. He was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Brewster cemetery.

    Nancy Ann Cox was born Jan. 5, 1859 in Mercer County Mo., and departed this life Feb. 3, 1937, at the age of 78 years and 28 days.
    She spent her girlhood in the community in which she was born and was converted at the age of 17 and became a member of the Fairhaven Baptist Church.
    On Aug. 31, 1882, she was united in marriage to W. S. Thompson who mourns her loss. To this union were born six boys and three girls: Burton Thompson of Brewster; Charlie Thompson of the home place; Mrs. Bessie Bear of the home community; Mrs. Addie McAdams of Laird, Nebr.; Ivan C. Thompson of Edson, Kansas; Fred Thompson of Brewster; Mrs. Idonia Tracy of the home community; and Alec Thompson of Edson, Kansas. Willie Thompson preceded his mother in death having passed away in 1924. There are 25 grandchildren and one great grandchild who survive.
    A kindly spirited wife and mother has passed on. Her going is great loss but while here among her fellow beings and caring for her family she was a blessing to all. She knew her Lord and let Him lead her into the valley of the shadow of death - but no fear possessed her.
    The funeral service was held in the M. E. Church at Brewster and conducted by the Rev. Fred W. Martin assisted by the Rev. Simpson, pastor of the church.

    Ralph J. Nicholas
    Funeral services for Ralph J. Nicholas, retired farmer, will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Olinger Mortuary, Boulder st. Burial will be in Crown Hill.
    Mr. Nicholas, who lived at 2760 W First ave., died Tuesday in Plaza Park Nursing Home, Westminster. He was 88.
    Born on Sept. 7, 1878, in Rippey, Iowa, he attended schools there. He married Miss Mary Reinking in Tipton, Kan., in 1904. After her death, he married Miss Bertha Mayhood in Columbus, Kan., in 1921.
    Mr. Nicholas homesteaded in Baca County before moving to Lincoln County, where he operated a nursery. He moved to Denver in 1949 following retirement.
    Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Kathryn Inness of Karvel, Mrs. Nina B. Eason of Denver, Mrs. Thelma Thompson and Mrs. Inez Schroeder, both of Westminster; a sister, Mrs. Addie Mullen of Kansas City, grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

    Memorial Services Are Held For Ralph J. Nicholas
    Services for Ralph J. Nicholas were held at 1:00 p.m. July 21 in the Olinger Mortuary at Denver. Burial was in Crown Hill.
    Mr. Nicholas died Tuesday, July 11, in Plaza Park Nursing Home in Westminster. He was born September 7, 1878, in Rippey, Ia.
    He married Mary Reinking in Tipton, Kans., in 1904 and she died two years later. In 1911 he married Bertha Mayhood in Columbus, Kans. They homesteaded about eleven miles southwest of two buttes in Baca County. Later he lived in Lincoln County and established the Oasis Nursery.
    His greatest satisfaction was in doing for others. One of his happiest moments was the opportunity to furnish some of the trees for the Bucklen Cemetery north of Karvel.
    Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas retired in Denver in 1949. Mrs. Nicholas died November 4, 1964, three years after they had celebrated theirgolden wedding anniversary.
    Survivors include four daughters; Mrs. Thelma Thompson and Mrs. Inez Schroeder, both of Westminster, Mrs. Nina B. Eason, Denver and Mrs. Kathryn Inness, Karvel; one sister, Mrs. Addie Mullen, Kansas City, Mo.; nine grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.

    Mary's Daughter Thelma has said that her mother had died in childbirth with a boy who also died. Both were buried in the same grave.

    Family lore says that Mary's family didn't really like Ralph and when she died, they wanted to take Catherine and Thelma and he wouldn't let them, so he took the girls by wagon and left.
