She was known for baking and decorating cakes, served as a Sunday School teacher for many years, was a Girl Scout leader and delivered Meals-On-Wheels in Goodland.
She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, the Sympathy Club, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Colby, Brewster extension club, and the Brewster United Methodist Church, as well as a volunteer for the Share program for the last nine years. She qualified for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Her parents, and two sisters, Laura Ochsner and Minnie Laine, died before her.
Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Goering of Fort Collins, Colo., and Jolene Miller and husband Rich of Goodland; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Central Time Friday, Aug. 24, at the church. Pastor Dorene Chambers will officiate, with burial in the Brewster Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Bateman Funeral Home in Goodland and at the church before services on Friday. Family members will be at the funeral home receiving friends from 7 to 8 p.m. tonight.

    Also:
Three other families are mourning the lose of loved ones among them Hazel Tracy, Boyd Billenwillms and Roy Duell. Hazel was the mother ofJolene Miller and another daughter Beverly from Fort Collins. Jolene told me she had been in the hospital, here and in Denver the past five weeks. I didn’t know the other two gentlemen personally but did know the sister of Roy Duell, Virgiline Amos of Goodland. To all of these people I wish to send my condolences to them as they face a few agonizing months in the future as they figure out where and what they will need to do to adjust to these loses. May they all know that the Almighty walks with them and at times will also carry them over the stones they’ll find in their paths.
